Gold for Adega Belém’s amphora fermented Unicornio Graúdo 2024

Gold medal at the annual 2024 wine competition of the Portuguese Sommelier Association, attributed to our amphora-aged Unicórnio Graúdo! Made of Moscatel Graúdo grapes grown in a north-facing vineyard in Palmela, Setubal, guaranteeing a long and steady ripening process. After three months of post-fermentative on-skin maceration in 200L clay tarecos, the wine was slowly drained via the lower valve and then poured back into the amphora for 6 months of slow oxidative aging. The result is stunning: a complex, white-fruit driven white wine with oxidative character. perfect acidity backbone, salinity and hints of orange skin. Perfect companion for slightly spicy fish stew, white sauces, poultry, and umami-driven food.
